Alfred Hsing appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Music Video “It’s On Again” by Alicia Keys ft. Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, and Hans Zimmer
“I know that we all think we’re immortal, we’re supposed to feel that way, we’re graduating. The future is and should be bright, but, like our brief four years in high school, what makes life valuable is that it doesn’t last forever, what makes it precious is that it ends. I know that now more than ever. And I say it today of all days to remind us that time is luck. So don’t waste it living someone else’s life, make yours count for something. Fight for what matters to you, no matter what. Because even if you fall short, what better way is there to live?” -Gwen Stacey’s (played by Emma Stone) valedictorian speech
I’m currently in Hengdian, China working on a feature starring Jackie Chan. On our rest day yesterday I had the opportunity to watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 3D. As expected it was a good movie! I know its a comic book movie but electro’s motivation to suddenly hate and want to kill Spider-man was a bit unbelievable for me. Otherwise, I did really like the chemistry between Gwen Stacey and Peter Parker.
Amazingly enough!.. before I left for China I worked on The Amazing Spider-man 2 soundtrack song “It’s On Again” by Alicia Keys feat. Kendrick Lamar, Pharrel Williams, and Hans Zimmer. The music video was a 2 day shoot in LA. For the story within the music video roughly 10 people were selected to be a part of this covert ops militia type team that runs through downtown re-wiring the city. Then as everything is re-wired the music reaches a crescendo and the city lights turn back on and start bumping to the beat.
We actually shot quite a lot of shots from different angles and different locations, but as is the style of most music videos they went with really quick edits so you can see me briefly in a few shots. We ran spools of wire through buildings, we climbed ladders, turned on electrical grids, and loaded and unloaded equipment into unmarked black vans. My kinda day 🙂
All-in-all a cool shoot. I met some really talented people that day. A lot of our “covert ops” team were working actors and dancers. Everyone had an awesome attitude and a unique style. Everyone was fun to work with.
