Bojangles Master Biscuit Maker VS Master Sensei – My First National Commercial
So I was back in LA for about 3 months when I landed my first national commercial. Technically the commercial only aired in the south and east coast because it was for a southern fast food chain called “Bojangles“. They are similar to Popeyes, but known for their Chicken and Biscuits.
It’s interesting the choices we make. The same day I got the audition for the Bojangles commercial someone called me to see if I wanted to work as an extra on a Samsung commercial. I was hesitant because I just got back to the US and one was guaranteed pay while the other was just an audition. The lady in charge of the Samsung casting was actually very nice and we talked a bit. She said that she had a long list of other people she could call so it was my decision either way, but she recommended I take the work since it was guaranteed. She said, most people are lucky if they book 1 in 20 auditions… what are the chances anyway?
In my usual overly optimistic style, something told me that I should go to the audition and that I had a good chance, so I politely told her that I had to go to the audition. In the end things worked my way – not to say it’s always like this, but I ended up getting a callback and then booking the commercial.
On set everyone was a pleasure to work with. I got to freestyle some silly chop socky karate type moves and whip around the biscuit dough like they were nunchuks. Anyways, to see what I’m referring to, check out the commercial below!
