818 Boxing Fight Short Film: Two Brothers Jason Yee vs Alfred Hsing Box It Out – Video

boxing shoot team

Right at the turn of the new year a production in China reached out to me. They were shooting a boxing movie with a Chinese cast planned for sometime in 2015. They were looking for an action coordinator and wanted to see some of my work. So with the help of Daniel Cotroneo, Eliver Ling, Rocky Abou-Sakher, and Jason Yee I decided to shoot a quick boxing video just for practice and to show them my shooting style.

It was great working with my wushu bro Jason Yee on this short because we had wanted to shoot something together for a while. Jason Yee is a highly decorated martial artist who was part of the US Wushu Team and went to the 1st World Wushu Championships where he competed in both taolu and sanda. After I competed at the 10th World Wushu Championships we began working out together. I appreciate the sanda training sessions with Jason; there’s always something to learn and we always have a good work out. 818 Boxing Alfred

This short was shot in 1 day and then with the help of Sal Redner, we edited the footage. It took us some time to convert all of the Red footage into Final Cut. I learned a lot on the editing end and it was also fun spending a few evenings at Sal’s studio grabbing dinner and editing the shoot.

Mainly we focused on the fight scene at the end, but you will see that we created a short story around it. It’s the story of two brothers who have not seen each other in a long time. They finally see each other again for the first time in a long while at their old boxing gym. Hope you guys enjoy!

Special thanks to 818 Boxing Club for being so kind as to let us shoot at their gym! Thanks!
